Writing buddies

19. July 2006

Is there anything better than writer friends?
Yes, chatting to one of said writer friends while drinking hot chocolate.

Writing is not just a lonely profession, it’s also extremely weird. So having someone who understands what you’re going through is vital to your sanity. A fellow writer will understand why you’re proud of two lines of dialogue or a hundred new words. They can hold your hand through writers’ block.
They will listen to you talking about your characters. They will dream up clouds with you or pull you down to earth. tehy tell you to go and write and tehy can give you feedback.

I don’t know where I’d be without writing friends.

What is the best thing that your fellow writers do for you?

Best thing is that they understand. They understand that I’d rather serve coffee and write than have a more “prestigious” job. They are patient and respect the fact that I don’t tell them much about my writing at all. Most of my friends are actors/musicians/artists/writers, so they all ‘get it’ in one way or another.

Btw, I like your colour-coded progress monitors on the sidebar!
