Friday Fun & Excitement: Geocaching

27. March 2009

I talked about geocaching only on tuesday, but it’s so much fun that it warrants its own post.yarra

I found out about geocaching through Justina Chen Headley’s North of beautiful (a great book, go read it!), and in fact, Justina herself blogs about geocaching a bit. Read about her adventures trying to find the Twilight cache in Forks!

The Boy and I have been geocaching a few times, mostly around our own neighbourhood, and with varying success. It’s a great way to get out and about with a purpose and discover those hidden gems of locations everywhere.

We found a lovely area we had no idea about, and we want to live there! It’s only a 10-minute walk from our place, but the houses are just so cute!

We’re going to go geocaching while we’re overseas later in the year and I look forward to finding a cache hidden at the best airport in the world, Changi in Singapore. What a fun adventure.

Geocaching has its own website, where you can find out about hidden caches, log those you’ve found and generally connect with people from all over the world.

So what are you waiting for? Go out and adventure!

And if you geocache, tell me about your finds.
